FIFA World Cup Russia Teams

32 teams came out on top after competing for head to head in the qualifiers. Among these 32 teams, the most notable ones are Brazil (5-time champs), Germany (the defending champions), Argentina (Team full of superstars and last year’s runner-ups), Portugal (the Ronaldo squad), France, Spain (winners of 2010 world cup) and England. Other teams that have equal changing of making it through include Australia, Colombia, Belgium, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, Iceland, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia and Uruguay.

The teams will be competing in groups of four. There will be a total of eight groups, and all the 4 teams will go head to head with each other. Only 2 teams out of every group will be selected for the round of 16. To avoid geo-graphic clashes, 2 non-European teams from the same confederation cannot exist in the same group. Russia, being the host, got automatic placement in the group despite being the lowest ranked among all the teams who have qualified for the tournament.

With Europe providing 14 qualified teams for the tournament, there cannot be more than 2 European teams in the same group. And unlike the past tournaments, there is no group of death this time as the draw formats have been changes.
